This is one of the most common palm trees in Florida. These palm trees are easy to spot as they have the distinct trunk feature that looks like the palm tree is pealing in a criss-cross pattern. The criss-cross pattern is sometimes called the ‘boots’.
Some Sabal Palms do not show very much pealing. Photos here are of the criss-cross and of the trunk without the ‘boot’. This is the Florida State Tree!
The Cabbage Palm is also know as the Sabal Palm
These are the leaves of the Sabal Palm in a young tree.
